Typhoons, floods, landslides, earthquakes are all common in the Philippines.   The Philippines is normally in the top 10 of the nations reporting disasters each year.  On Thursday, Friday and Saturday more than 25 people from all over the Philippines are meeting on the campus of Asia Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary to train for disaster response.   Rev. Stephen Gualberto and two members of the PHIRADS were responsible for the content.  Each of the Districts of the Church of the Nazarene in the Philippines was represented by the District Superintendent and the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Coordinator.   Some of the expectations for the training are,

How to respond to a disaster,
- Mobilize the Church
- Where to find help
- How to channel resources
- Prevention
- Follow up after a disaster – where to go next
- Evaluation, lessons learned, celebration
- Evaluating current disasters
- Partnerships with other groups

Funds were given during the Ondoy flood to support this training to increase the capacity of our local churches and districts to respond to various hazards and disasters in their areas.
